AAR, can you please clarify what vintage clothing means? barring levis circa 1880's...
I ask this because me and a peer had a livid discussion about things being 5-6 seasons out of date and being arbitrarily labeled "vintage" can you please clarify possible benchmarks?
Well my garment loving squire, this is all depending on what you mean by the terms 5-6 seasons out-of-date?
I would guess you are speaking of the vintage sellers at indie stores selling an old seasoned Marc Jacobs piece right? (im using his name as an example only), in that case i would not class it/that as vintage at all. All though contrary it will inevitably be seen by such fashionistas as an 'Old Relic Marc Jacobs piece' Is that what you were asking for? Because in that case yes, every single runway, collection or fashion piece will be considered vintage in years to come. And the older and further away it gets from its production time the older it really becomes.
Vintage to me is clothes worn during a time you can only experience in photos harking back to the turn of the century. The time when i was not around.
